Marine Centre Assistant - Gael Force Marine Equipment (Plymouth)

Due to further growth, Gael Force Marine Equipment, which supplies both to commercial and leisure customers, is actively looking to recruit a Marine Centre Assistant to join our sales and rigging team. Based in the Plymouth store, this role is responsible for supporting the Chandlery Manager with the running of the Chandlery, by assisting with customer sales, warehousing, rigging and despatch duties.The role will also require the successful candidate to assist with customer service, both face to face and through telephone orders, offering advice and product information.

Duties will include:

• Greeting shop customers, assisting with all enquiries including product selection, information finding and problem solving

• Handling cash and receipts for the sale of merchandise by performing duties such as processing sales/invoices and balancing, sorting and securing cash.

• Maintaining the cleanliness of the store by ensuring that maintenance duties are completed on a regular basis

• Assisting with rigging duties as required / training offered

• To raise any concerning H&S issues to your line manager

• To despatch orders in a timely and efficient manner

• Opening and closing the store (when required), ensuring all security measures are followed at all times.

 

The successful candidate should have:

Essential skills

• Ability to work under own initiative and function well as part of a team

• Good level in IT competence

• Good verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment

• Ability to communicate effectively with Customers and Co-Workers

• Diligent attention to detail and attention to safety.

 

Desirable

• At least 2-3 years of experience in a warehouse, sales or rigging role.

• Full driving licence

• Forklift operator’s certificate

• Knowledge of marine chandlery

• Knowledge of commercial fishing
